Manuscript Summary:
Manuscript Summary
This compact late-medieval manuscript has an incomplete copy of the prayers for the Hours of the Virgin, part on parchment, part on paper. By the script and watermarks, it can be dated to ca. 1500, probably from the diocese of Constance, as indicated by the regional saints named in the Litany (Conrad, Gall, Othmar, Magnus). The original quire structure has been heavily altered; several leaves are missing, were moved, or rebound. It contains the office of the Virgin for the week and for High Holy Days, penitential psalms, a litany, many prayers, as well as the Psalterium feriatum and private prayers for the Mass. The manuscript is richly rubricated and written in a typical gothic book cursive. (glo)
