Manuscript Summary
The paper manuscript chiefly contains the catalogue of the bishops of Basel established by Father Ertel, a Premonstratensian of Bellelay Abbey (pp. 17-95). There then follows a long series of historical and geographical notes on the bishopric of Basel (pp. 97-172) that were assembled by the Dean, Hennet de Delémont, and by his nephew, the Abbot Serrasset de Delémont. These notes provide the material for their work, L'abeille du Jura ou Recherches historiques, archéologiques et topographiques sur l'ancien évêché de Bâle (Neuchâtel, Imprimerie de Petitpierre, 1840-1841, 2 vols.). The manuscript is dedicated to Louis Joseph Joliat (1774-1829) while he was prefectural councilor in Colmar (p. 8).
