Manuscript Summary
This paper manuscript contains various texts in German, including a list of bishops of the diocese of Basel, from Justinianus to Jean Conrad de Roggenbach (pp. 12-77), later completed with the names of subsequent bishops, up to Simon Nicolas de Montjoie d’Hirsingue (pp. 118, 147-148). Next to the name of each appears a coat of arms drawn in red chalk directly on the manuscript, or onto vignettes that are pasted in (e.g., p. 27). The next text, identical to that in manuscript A3236 (pp. 61-119), treats the history of the bishopric of Basel when it was based in Arlesheim (pp. 81-148). The manuscript finishes with a list of the provosts (pp. 149-155), as well as that of the canons of the cathedral of Basel from 1024 to 1722 (pp. 157-235). The ex-dono written on the front flyleaf states that this manuscript was donated in 1813 by the Capuchins of Dornach with the agreement of the prior provincial.
