Aelfric (0955-1022)
Dieses Handschriftenfragment, das als Einband einer Edition des De quattuor virtutibus von Domenico Mancini (London, R. Dexter, 1601) benutzt wurde, enthält den Auszug einer Predigt des Aelfric (gegen 950 - gegen 1010), der einer der wichtigsten angelsächsischen Autoren des Hochmittelalters war. Der Abschnitt dieser Predigt, die für den Sonntag Septuagesima bestimmt ist und in 9 Handschriften vollständig überliefert wurde, enthält die beinahe vollständige englische Übersetzung durch Aelfric des Gleichnisses des Sämanns (Matthäus 20, 1-16), gefolgt von einigen Zeilen der Erläuterung. Gemäss N. Ker bezeugt dieses Fragment, das in die 2. Hälfte des 11. Jahrhunderts datiert werden kann, verschiedene interessante linguistische Variationen zum Originaltext von Aelfric. Es handelt sich um die älteste angelsächsische Handschrift im Besitz der Fondation Martin Bodmer.
