Manuscript Summary
In 1720, the librarian Ignaz Pfyffer (1690–1736), commissioned by Abbot Franz Baumgartner (1652–1721) produced the Catalogus bibliothecae Maristellanae. The manuscript reflects the contemporary holdings of the Wettingen convent library. The catalogue, written in Latin, is illustrated with engravings that have been excerpted and pasted in. There are also ornamental decorations in the margins. The volume contains an alphabetical list of the book collection, an “Index geographicus”, and a Chronogram (p. 241).
