Manuscript Summary
The paper manuscript is a collection of sermons and treatises that were copied at different times and brought together for binding. The binding dates from the last quarter of the fifteenth century, as suggested by the blind-stamping, such as the agnus dei and the basilisk, that appears in bindings produced in Augsburg. The copy of the first large collection of sermons in the manuscript, with a colophon dated 26 august 1389 (p. 292a) is known as the Sermones socci, which are traditionally ascribed to the Cistercian Konrad von Brundelsheim. Copied in two columns and introduced with a simple red initial, the sermons follow the order of the saints (pp. 39a-292a). The possessor, “Ioh[hannes] Sunder, alias Sunher de Laugingen, plebanus in Wangen”, put his name at the top of this section. The follow Peregrinus de Oppeln’s Sermones de sanctis (pp. 302-388), copied in a single column by another scribe who produced a few letters with cadels (pp. 364-369). The rest of the manuscript presents a whole series of sermons, interrupted by blank pages, and finishes with three treatises: Rudolphus Medicus, De benedictione aurae (pp. 505-506), Thomas Ebendorfer, Tractatus de superstitionibus quibusdam circa eucharistiae sacramentum (pp. 507-518), and an anonymous treatise: “Incipit tractatus contra illorum oppinionem qui terrere nituntur predicatores ewangelicos, dicentes non esse licitum predicare ewangelium Sarracenis propter nigredines [sic] mortis periculum” (pp. 519-531).
